Berger M.

Prof. Hon. Mette M Berger is an Intensive care physician from the Lausanne University Hospital, specialized in burn care, and clinical nutrition. Did her M.D. degree at Lausanne University (CH), and Ph.D. (University of Umeå (Sweden). Specialist FMH in Intensive care medicine, and nutrition. Prof. Berger has authored over 280 peer-reviewed publications on nutritional therapy of the general and burn critically ill patients, and micronutrients. She has contributed to developing the concept of maximal tolerable energy deficit in acute conditions, and the importance of respecting the endogenous energy production during early feeding, promoting the use indirect calorimetry and computerized information systems to monitor nutritional therapy. She is a micronutrient specialist. Honorary member of European Society of Intensive Care Medicine (ESICM), and past chair of the ESICM-MEN section. She chaired the 2022 ESPEN guidelines on Micronutrients
