Associated Professor of Infectious Diseases (ID) at the Unversity of Bologna and senior ID consultant at the Sant'Orsola Hospital, Bologna Italy. Main areas of clinical and research activity are infections in immunocompromised hosts (solid organ transplant recipients and more recently patients with haematological malignancy, bloodstream infections, infections due to difficult to treat organisms). I'm currently the Chair of the European Study Group of Infections in Immunocompromised Hosts (ESGICH) of the European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (ESCMID). I’m associate editor of Transplant International, the official journal of the European Society for Organ Transplantation (ESOT) for the section on Infectious Diseases.
