Dr. Astrid Behr was born in Wuerzburg (Germany) in 1962 and graduated there High School and music college (violoncello) in 1981. In 1988, she graduated in medicine at the University of Padua (Italy), where she was appointed specialist in Anesthesia and Intensive Care Medicine in 1992. She obtained a postgraduate specialization in Applied Farmacology at Modena in 1994. She has practiced as staff Anesthetist and Intensivist at the Padua University Hospital with a break about 8 months in 2001 for the birth of her male child. From 2009 she was Head of Anesthesia in Orthopedic and Spine Surgery, and Traumatology, where she has introduced several the ultrasound guidance for regional anesthesia, developing innovative techniques for regional anesthesia and pain management in adult and pediatric patients, as well as policies for patient blood management and local anesthetic systemic toxicity. For over 20 years she has been a lecturer of the Padua University hospital and has provided specific training to residents and fellows in regional anesthesia, ultrasound-guided techniques for anesthesia and pain management. Since 2018, she is Director of the Anesthesia and Intensive Care Department of Pietro Cosmo Hospital in Camposampiero, Padua, Italy. Since 2012 she collaborates with the Institute of Anatomy of Padua University for the realisation of a Cadaver Lab workshop in regional anesthesia and further courses in clinical anatomy and the application of special techniques in different surgical context. She is also engaged in a close collaboration with Prof. C. Stecco in the functional study of human fasciae anatomy. Between 2016 and 2018 she coordinated the Orthopedic Anesthesia Study Group of the Italian Society of Anesthesia and Intensive Care Medicine (SIAARTI), and in 2018 she became director board Delegate for Northern Italy. She is Author and Co-author of numerous research publications and several book chapters in the field of orthopaedic, pediatric and regional anesthesia. |
