Full Professor of Infectious Diseases in the Alma Mater Studiorum University of Bologna Head of the Infectious Disease Unit – IRCCS Policlinico S. Orsola Bologna - Italy. He acts as a infectious diseases consultant in several settings such as intensive care units, haematology, liver, kidney and heart transplant units, hepatology, cardiosurgery, neurosurgery and orthopaedic units. He is active in epidemiological and intervention studies on the management of infectious risk in several community and nosocomial settings, including pharmacokinetics studies for treatment optimization of complicate infections
