Giorgio Iotti is Professor of Anesthesiology at the University of Pavia, and Chief of the Dept. of Intensive Medicine at the Policlinico San Matteo Hospital of Pavia. Clinical researcher since the ‘80s, he has been involved in study and also development of several mechanical ventilation technologies that today are currently used in intensive care: pressure support ventilation, automatic breath analysis (continuous P0.1, passive mechanics by least square fitting, respiratory system time constant, static PV curve), ventilation by helmet, advanced automation (ASV and INTELLiVENT). He leads an ECMO team active on support for acute respiratory or cardiac failure as well as on bridge to lung transplantation, with experience on prolonged extracorporeal support, awake ECMO, remote missions, transport by aircraft or helicopter.
