Carolyn S. Calfee, MD MAS is Associate Professor of Medicine and Anesthesia at the University of California, San Francisco. Her research program focuses on clinical and translational studies of the acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), including molecular phenotyping of ARDS, ARDS subphenotypes, and environmental risk factors for ARDS development. She is also an active investigator in ARDS clinical trials, including the NHLBI’s Prevention and Early Treatment of Acute Lung Injury (PETAL) Network, and chaired the American Thoracic Society’s Critical Care Assembly from 2015-2017.
