Dr Philippe Gautier is head of the department of Anaesthesiology at the Clinique Ste Anne - St Remi in Brussels, Belgium.
He graduated in 1985 as a medical doctor at the University of Louvain, Brussels.
He completed his five-year training in anaesthesiology at the same university and spent an extra year specializing in regional anaesthesia under the patronage of Prof A Vansteenberge.
His attention is focused on obstetric anaesthesia, the pharmacodynamics of alpha 2 agonists and new local anaesthetics. More recently, his interests also include local anaesthetic spread of nerve blocks. Dr Gautier has published extensively in different fields of regional anaesthesia in peer-reviewed journals
He has been involved in most of the projects of the Bara since it’s foundation and actually takes part in several obstetrical programs in foreign countries. He is also ESRA Board member .
